We've been hard at work on the Camaro.
We got the inline fuel pump and filters from Venice at The Performance Cellar in Hamilton. Go support him!
After a run-away air leak situation.... see video #2 below, new runner gaskets and homemade EGR tub blocks (popcan and RTV) the engine smoothed out quite nicely. We weren't ever sure this motor would run..... WE'VE GOT A RUNNER!
Here's a little trick. The picture with the ratchet and socket, you'll notice paper towel shoved in there. When we were installing the fuel pump, the bolts were too short to fit all the way through the floor so that Zach could put the nut on. Add some paper towel to keep the bolt out further in the socket.
Uh oh. What is that glowing alien-looking device I just installed on the garage wall..... ..... ..... .....
VIDEO #1
OK.. This was the first time the engine "ran". As you can hear, there's a little backfire, then it sounds like a 20hp Briggs and Stratton! Obviously not right.
VIDEO #2
OK. We got the sparkplug wires sorted out....
BUT NOT THE AIR LEAKS!
RUNAWAY!
VIDEO #3
Yes, yes, yes! Hear that inline fuel pump prime. Listen to the sound of the V8 rumble. Idle is still high, I think there's another small air leak.
VIDEO #4
THIS IS IT! YES! 1200 rpm and a throttle blip for fun!
We don't have a radiator yet, so we can only run the engine in short spurts for testing.
