Winter-time issues
Booo! We got that 600 triple running real well, and did two race-runs in the field. That thing being piloted by Zach kicked me and my 2007 Polaris IQ 600 right in the rear. While riding back to the barn, i saw him slow down to a stop. Zach hopped off the sled and opened the hood. Then, his hands went up onto his helmet in disbelief. He thought the belt blew.... in reality, the primary clutch EXPLODED! The shrapnel mangled the clutch cover, and blew a hole out the bottom of the bellypan! WOW! Thankfully we always run our sleds with the clutch covers on.... this incident could have been very dangerous! The good news is that the engine still runs fine, we just need to find a new-to-us clutch, and we'll stitch together the bellypan.
ON THE SAME DAY!
Zach was sledding with his girlfriend and took the 1988 Ski-Doo Safari 377 out. This has been our most bullet-proof sled for over a decade. As you can see in the picture, the piston on the MAG side has been (as the kids say) KA-CHUNKED. A large part of the top piston ring broke off and mangled the piston and the head. The PTO side still had 130 psi!
We have another 377 we're hoping will just pop in and run....
STAY TUNED.
